CAREER PLAN

Be Self-aware

By focusing on my feelings in the present,  I can directly tap into my immediate emotional responses and learn from them. This present-moment awareness is a key component of mindfulness, which enhances a deeper understanding of self. An action I take when I’m about to perform as a DJ, I usually would have an alcoholic drink or chew gum to suppress my anxious feeling, However as I’ve been diving further into my self-awareness and really working through why I'm feeling this way I’ve been able to overcome this with breathing techniques.

Explore your options

As I’m progressing into my business degree, it’s helped me build the skills I need to progress in my full-time marketing management role to be more of an asset in the business. As well as conduct research and discover other opportunities to connect, network and collaborate with other businesses. Having real-life experience and completing my degree gives me a competitive advantage in the job market.

Gain experience and insights

Working as a full-time marketing manager whilst completing my degree already gives me invaluable experience to have the opportunity to put my new skills to practice in the real world straight away. I’ve also been able to obtain consultant work for bigger companies and discover the different ways they do things.

Evidence your skills (knowledge, skills and attributes)

A marketing manager requires critical thinking, strategy and a creative flow. Besides that, recruiters and future opportunities need a way to see my skills put to the test. By having a website and LinkedIn with up to date information gives my future employers every bit of information they need to find out what I might be capable of.

Develop networks

  1. I could attend networking events or conferences within my industry like Fitness Australia.
  2. Join groups or connect with others with a similar role on LinkedIn
  3. I could ask my existing network if they might know someone within their network I should know about.
